Michael William Balcomb was born in Nigeria in 1957, educated in England, and joined the Unification Church in California in 1976.

He became President of the collegiate youth branch of the Unification Church in Great Britain in the mid-1980s and from 1990, taught seminars in various East European nations and later in Russia.

Michael Balcomb returned to the United States in 1992 to attend the Unification Theological Seminary, graduating with a Master of Divinity in 1994. In 2009, he became the first graduate of the UTS Doctor of Ministry program, and now teaches courses on Interfaith and Ecumenical Dialogue to new doctoral students. Mr. Balcomb was appointed president of the Family Federation for World Peace and Unification USA by the FFWPU board of directors in March 2013.

Michael Balcomb received the Marriage Blessing from Sun Myung Moon with Fumiko Oikawa Fumiko Balcombfrom Iwate, Japan at the 6000 Couples’ Marriage Blessing Ceremony in Korea in 1982. They have five children.
