Alexander Ershov grew up in Tver, Russia.

He studied at Shkola 17 in Tver.

He studied at The Institute of Asian and African Studies in Moscow were he became fluent in Korean.

He worked as a translator for Korean UC missionaries in Russia.

He moved to South Korea and lived in Gapyeong.

He has been married since 1 November 2003 with Irina Ershova. They have 3 children.

From April 2008 until the end of his life he has been Manager for International Patients at Cheongshim International Medical Center.

He suffered from non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a very severe type of cancer. He lived for only a few months after he was diagnosed early 2016.
