Setting up a research project

From Sun Myung Moon Archive

This page is to guide you through the process of setting up a research project. If you're still unfamiliar with this procedure you can first watch the video tutorial SMMA 05 - Setting up a research project. To access this video see Private:Help#List of tutorial videos.

Research procedure

  1. Determine the topic of your research.
  2. Make a page with a fitting name for your research project[1] and add to your new page the template code {{subst:Research}}. After this save and re-open this page. See also How to make new pages.
    1. Note: In case you wish to conduct a project in privacy, you can start the page name withPrivate:. In that way the page will be accessible to logged-in users only.
  3. Search information in SMMA. Collect under subtopics in your research project page and make links. See also: Research - Separate useful from useless in sources.
  4. Search information on the internet. Do this also for info you already found in SMMA, but you still need an external link. Collect under subtopics in your research project page and make links. See also: Research - Separate useful from useless in sources.
  5. Now read everything that you collected, pray about it, think about. Make notes or summaries with each snippet. Gain deeper understanding, until you are clear about the main message and thread of the article you're going to write.
  6. Write the article and post in a page under category: Commentaries and critiques.
  7. Make internal links to and from this article you wrote. Try to keep the rule for cross linking. It means that when you place a link to page B on page A, preferably also place a link on page B to page A.
