Koch, Peter
Peter Koch joined the UC on 30 January 1962 in San Francisco, USA. On 11 June 1963 he was sent to Germany as the first missionary to Europe. In 1969 he married Gertrud Güse. They have 2 children, Goon Amen and Spring Anne. Mr and Mrs Koch participated in a mass wedding ceremony in Essen, Germany, officiated by Sun Myung Moon. This was the first European Marriage Blessing Ceremony, which was part of the Blessing of 43 International Couples. In 1969 they moved to Austria. In 1980 Koch sent underground missionaries to the Soviet Union and other communist countries in Europe. This operation was known as Mission Butterfly. Koch was often in conflict with the second missionary to Europe - Paul Werner, and that created some splits between members. On 19 June 1984 Peter Koch died unexpectedly at the age of 57.
