In 1969 he attended a mass wedding ceremony in Essen, Germany with Gertrude Koch among forty-three couples. In 1969 they moved to Austria.
In 1980, Koch sent missionaries to the Soviet Union and other communist countries in Europe.
Koch was often in conflict with the second missionary to Europe - Paul Werner, and that created some splits between members.
