150703 Changes in Iframe for private files

When you use the link 'Add private file' to make a private file, and you filled into the infobox form the storage url for the uploaded file, the head of the Iframe now automatically shows a link to that url.

Please whenever you add files in Iframes, if there is an url for a printable version of the web page, use that printable version. This is especially important for Wikipedia articles. Wikipedia articles can be uploaded as files in the public section.

150704 Changes in Private:page with databox

Initially i had made 1 + 9 categories for the private pages, assuming that these categories were hidden. But while in the search functions of the wiki private pages can only be found by users who are logged in, the category system is not so tightly closed. And every visitor of the site can find all the private pages by searching in the categories list and categories tree. They cannot see the private pages unless they are logged in, but they can see the titles of private pages.

It's not a big problem for our privacy, but i had to make some changes in how categories are attributed to private pages. You're more free to do so now.

Inevitably some help pages, diagrams and tutorials may still teach it the old way. But the form that you have to fill out gives the right instructions.

A new feature in SMMA:

This is a page where you get a good overview of all categories in SMMA.
- There is a section where you can enter a category and then get the parent categories
- There is a section where you see an alphabetic list of categories
- Then there are sections showing the main categories of SMMA
Click 'Category network' at the bottom of the 'navigation pane' in the left sidebar!
(The blue question marks have help instructions but are still invisible until sa got a new extension working.)

Category Research projects for your user page

I've deleted this category. Even though you do research on your user page, that doesn't make your user page a research project. First paragraph in your user page, coding errors

Now you've got to become familiar with wiki codes. Two errors in the first paragraph.

First, you enclosed a long sentence inside [[ ]]. The double square brackets are used to make a link to an internal page, but you obviously did not intend to make a page with that long name.

Second, you deleted something in the original and left this piece of what became corrupted code: <code>code>

This makes the entire rest of your page look crooked.

<code></code> is to make a grey box around a text.

is to place a text in superscript.

Note that there is a beginning code like this: <code> or

It always needs a finish like this: </code> or

How to make references

You placed a link in a reference under the References section, like this:

<ref>[https://www.tumblr.com/search/pikareum Tumblr page of Pikareum]</ref>

That should be done in a different way.

Suppose this is the text and you want to place a reference with a link in it behind the word text.

Suppose this is the text<ref>[https://www.tumblr.com/search/pikareum Tumblr page of Pikareum]</ref> and you want to place....

Suppose this is the text^[1] and you want to place....

A few problems with this file:

The pdf file is only a text and does not contain references or links of where it's from. This probably is because of how you make the pdf file, selecting only part of the content.
To solve this, you should at least mention the source (HWDYKYM) and the date in the title of the private file.

Even though there is the source url, but suppose that HWDYKYM is taken offline, then the pdf file you made becomes useless for good research purposes.--DivineCriticizer (talk) 09:07, 14 July 2015 (PDT)

You are a bit sloppy with spaces. K. L. Nevalainen should be K.L. Nevalainen. I would suggest you often check this help page Writing style. It's something we need to be precise about because otherwise no scholar will ever use our archive.

Please correct it in the tags you made.

Don't be so sloppy with your spaces! See Date of event.

Title should contain date and place. The title that we use should be informative for such things.

'admitting father had sex' ... Should be 'his father'....

Hyung Jin Nim? What's with the Nim? If you don't copy the original title, why use honorifics for Hyung Jin?

Much better title, but still, to learn for the next time:

When you write a comma behind 'father', you should also write a comma behind the name 'Moon, Sun Myung'. That's how English is used in this sentence. For example the sentence: The tree, called an apple tree, was cut down. You could not write: The tree, called an apple tree was cut down.

But doing it in that way adds still more commas to the title. Titles should have as few commas as possible. I don't see why you added the name SMM to the title because already the name 'Hyung Jin Moon' implies that Moon is his father. The site is about Moon.

Take time to think about your titles! Take your time for everything. Make it your pride that whatever you contribute, is done in the best way. That is how you learn the quickest. Take your time to reflect, and check, and re-check, is what i'm especially telling you again. Understand how you learn. You learn by investing in the right way. It takes a lot of time in the beginning, but it'll pay off in the end.

SMMA should reach a standard of English that is acceptable for official media. If you would work for an English newspaper, your contributions would be edited much more than what i am doing now. This is not Facebook where people write as they wish.--DivineCriticizer (talk) 05:53, 15 July 2015 (PDT)
